Random thought at 2pm: Flat maps and the Mercator projection are evil things - they teach us to see the world with artificial 'up' and 'down' orientations, which totally warps how we picture them in our minds Plus the Mercator projection makes some places look way bigger on maps than they actually are, and vice versa. It really sucks having these stupid childhood biases in adulthood.
